Parental controls on Gamma IPTV

Gamma IPTV parental controls PIN screen in a player app on a family TV

A full IPTV line-up includes movies, series and live channels meant for adults, and the player app shows everything by default. Setting up Gamma IPTV parental controls takes about fifteen minutes and works best in two layers: one inside the player app, and one on the TV or streaming stick. This guide covers both, plus a simple kids-only setup and a short checklist to run once you are done.

How parental controls work with IPTV

Gamma IPTV delivers the channels. The player app decides what is shown and what is locked. That means most controls live in TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro or whichever player you use, not on our side.

The device (Fire TV, Google TV, Samsung, LG) adds a second layer. It can stop children from opening the player at all, installing a different player, or changing settings. You want both layers. A PIN in the player alone does not help if a child can install another app and sign in.

Step 1: hide categories you never want shown

Hiding is the quickest win. Hidden groups no longer appear in the guide or channel list, so they are not even visible to tap on.

In TiviMate

  1. Open Settings → Playlists, choose your Gamma playlist and select Manage groups.
  2. Untick any group you want hidden, including adult and late-night categories.
  3. Repeat for movies and series if you see unsuitable groups there.

Hidden groups are not removed from your Gamma IPTV playlist, so you can bring them back at any time from the same screen.

In IPTV Smarters Pro

Smarters does not hide groups as cleanly, so it relies on its lock instead (Step 2). Some versions let you long-press a category to hide it; if yours does not, lock it.

In other players

Most players, including IBO Player and XCIPTV, have a category manager or a lock option in their settings. Look for words like hide, manage categories or parental.

Step 2: lock the rest with a PIN

Hiding keeps the list clean. A PIN stops someone from simply unhiding things.

TiviMate PIN lock

  1. Go to Settings → Parental control.
  2. Set a PIN.
  3. Choose what the PIN protects: locked groups or channels, and access to the settings screen.
  4. Back in the channel list, long-press a group or channel and choose Lock.

Protecting the settings screen is the important part. Without it, anyone can open settings and unhide every group.

Smarters PIN lock

  1. On the home dashboard, open Settings → Parental Control.
  2. Create a password the first time you open it.
  3. Switch between the Live TV, Movies and Series tabs and tick each category you want locked.
  4. Save. Locked categories now ask for the password.

More Smarters settings are in our IPTV Smarters Pro setup guide.

Gamma IPTV parental controls at device level

Menu names vary by model year, so treat these paths as a guide.

Fire TV and Firestick

Go to Settings → Preferences → Parental Controls and turn them on. You set a five-digit PIN tied to your Amazon account. You can then require the PIN for purchases, app launches and installing apps. Requiring it for app launches and installs is what stops a child from adding another player. This is the most useful Gamma IPTV parental controls step on a Firestick.

Google TV

Select your profile picture at the top right, then Add a kid. Google TV creates a kids profile with its own home screen, and you choose which apps appear on it. Leave the player off the kids profile entirely, or add it only on a TV where the player is already locked. Google Play also has its own content ratings under Play Store settings. The Android TV guide covers the player side.

Samsung Smart TVs

Samsung TVs let you lock individual apps from the app tile options on Smart Hub, and set a TV PIN in the general or security settings. The factory PIN on many models is 0000, so change it first.

LG Smart TVs

On webOS, look under Settings → General → Safety (or System → Safety). You can turn on application locks and set a PIN. As with Samsung, change the default PIN before anything else. Lock the player app itself, not only the TV menu.

A kids-only setup that works

If the children have their own TV, this is the setup we suggest to families:

  1. Use a separate streaming stick for the kids’ TV, signed in with the same Gamma IPTV login.
  2. Install one player only.
  3. Hide every group except the ones you are happy with, then add a short Favorites list.
  4. Lock the player settings with a PIN.
  5. Turn on the device PIN for app installs, or use a Google TV kids profile.
  6. Remove the web browser from the kids’ home screen if the device allows it.

A separate stick costs little and keeps the main TV’s settings untouched. Remember that if both TVs play at the same time, you need a plan with at least two devices, as explained in watching on a second TV.

What to check after setup

Run this check as the child would, without entering any PIN:

  • Scroll the whole guide and every movie and series category. Nothing you hid should appear.
  • Try to open the player’s settings. It should ask for the PIN.
  • Try to install an app from the store. The device should block it or ask for a PIN.
  • Search for a title you hid. Some players show search results from hidden groups, so lock those groups as well as hiding them.
  • Repeat the check after any player update. Updates occasionally reset settings.

If something still gets through

Write down the category name exactly as it appears and email our support team. We can tell you which group it belongs to and how to lock it in your player. Getting Gamma IPTV parental controls right the first time saves a lot of awkward evenings.

You can also see which channel categories Gamma IPTV carries before deciding what to hide, and find more fixes in the help center.

Frequently asked questions

Can Gamma IPTV remove adult categories from my account?

Ask our support team by email. Whatever is set on the account, we still recommend a PIN in the player and on the device, because children can install other apps.

What if my child guesses the PIN?

Change it straight away in the same settings screen, and pick something that is not a birthday or 1234. Using different PINs for the player and the device adds a second barrier.

Do parental controls in one player apply to the others?

No. Each player keeps its own locks. If two players are installed, set up both or remove the one you do not use.
